"We Shall Overcome"
This poem, dedicated to the September 11, 2001
attacks on the United States, was written by Jack Buck,
ASA Hall of Famer and longtime voice of the St. Louis Cardinals,
and read by him during a pregame ceremony at Busch Stadium on September 17, 2001.
Since this nation was
founded under God
more than 200 years ago,
we've been the bastion of freedom...
The light which keeps the
free world aglow.
We do not covet the possessions of others,
We are blessed with the bounty we share.
We have rushed to help other nations...
Anything... Anytime...Anywhere.
War is just not our
nature...
We won't start, but we will end the fight.
If we are involved,
We shall be resolved, to protect
what we know is right.
We've been challenged by a cowardly foe, who strikes and then hides from our view.
With one voice, we say there's no choice today, there is only one thing to do.
Everyone is saying
the same thing, and praying that we end these senseless moments we are living.
As our fathers did before, we shall win
this unwanted war.
And our children will enjoy the future we'll be giving.

Field and Training Facility Directions
ALL 4 SPORTS AND
FITNESS (Training Facility)- Sunrise Highway, West Islip --- Take Southern State Pkwy to Exit 39 South (Rte 231 South). Take
Rte 231 S to Sunrise Hwy East (Rte 27 East). Stay on service road, make left on Udall Road, go under Sunrise Hwy, and make
next left onto Sunrise Hwy westbound service road. Pass Atlantic Auto Mall and make right into Bob's Stores Shopping Center.
Take to All 4 Sports and Fitness (next to Chuck E Cheese), training area is at rear of facility.
ADELPHI-LIE to
Exit 34 South-New Hyde Pk. Road. Go to 1st traffic light, turn right to New Hyde Pk Road. Continue south. Left onto Jericho
Tpke. Right onto Nassau Blvd. Left onto South Avenue.
ALLEN PARK- Farmingdale, Take Southern State Pkwy to Exit
28 - Seaford-Oyster Bay Expwy (Rte 135) North. Take Rte 135 N to Exit 7E (Hempstead Tpke) East. Go ¼ mile to Merritts
Rd., and make a right. Go under RR trestle, continue to Motor Pkwy. & make a left. Take to Allen Park, on left side -
field is in back.
BIRCHWOOD PARK - Take Southern State Pkwy EAST to Exit 39N (Rte 231). Head North just over 1
mile to fork in Road (Commack Road) and bear right at fork. Take past first light to Bowling Lane, make right, head to end,
then make quick left and quick right, and head straight into park at the end.
BURNS PARK - From West: Take Southern
State East to Exit 28S (Rte 135). Take Rte 135 to end (Merrick Road East). Follow Merrick Road several miles into Massapequa,
and Park will be on right-hand side going eastbound. Make Right into park and field is in middle of park.
From East:
Take Southern State West to Exit 32S (Rte 110). Head south to Merrick Road. Make right at end of 110 and head east on Merrick
Road to Burns Park, which will be on left side. Make left into park.
CASAMENTO MEMORIAL PARK
Southern State Parkway to Exit 41 South- Bay Shore Road South. Proceed to next traffic light, Manor Lane and make a
right (Hess Gas Station is on the corner). Proceed to next traffic light- Muncey Avenue and make a right. Park approximately
1/8 mile on right. Skin Field is on southeast corner. CENTEREACH
HS - LIE to Exit 62N (Nicolls Rd) to Middle Country Rd. (Rt. 25). Make a left on to Middle country Rd. and head West to Mark

field is up on the left side.
EISENHOWER PARK- Take Either the LIE East or Grand Central Pkwy East. Exit at the
MeadowBrook Pkwy. Take the Meadowbrokk Pkwy to Hempstead Tpke East. Proceed to the 3rd traffic light. Make the Left into PARK,
Go 1/4 MILE into park and look for lots 3 & 4, BASEBALL FIELDS.
HALF HOLLOW HILLS H.S. WEST - Northern State
Pkwy to Exit 41 S (South - Huntington/Dix Hills), turn Right onto Wolf Hill Road. H.S. at 375 Wolf Hill Rd, Dix Hills
HARBORFIELDS HS - From East of Rt. 110: Rt. 231 North/Deer Park Ave./Deer Park Rd. (Exit 42N from Northern State
Pkwy, Exit 51 and head North from LIE, Exit 39N from Southern State Pkwy). Go under Northern State Pkwy and stay to
the left as road splits (Deer Park Rd./County Rd. 35). Cross over Jericho Turnpike (Rt. 25). At next intersection,
make right onto Broadway (County Rd. 86). Make right onto Pulaski Rd. (County Rd. 11). Make 2nd left onto Taylor
Ave.
From West of Rt. 110: Rt. 110 North (Exit 40N from Northern State Pkwy, Exit 49N from LIE, Exit 32N
from Southern State Pkwy). Cross over Jericho Turnpike (Rt. 25). Make a right onto E. Pulaski Rd. (County Rd.
11). Make left onto Taylor Ave. (2nd left past Broadway/County Rd. 86). ISLAND TREES H.S. - Southern State Pkwy to Wantagh Pkwy North. Take to Hempstead Tpke (Rte 24) exit heading
east. Take Hempstead Tpke east to Wantagh Avenue, make Right, and take to Straight Lane, and make a left. Take up to H.S.
JERICHO HS - LIE to Exit 41 N / Northern State Pkwy to Exit 35 N - Rte 106/107 N - once get to fork, bear RIGHT heading
north on Rte 106. Go to 1st traffic light, make LEFT into Jericho HS - field in back. JOHN GLENN H.S. - Northern State Pkwy to Exit 42N, toward Northport. Merge onto Deer Park Rd/Deer Park Ave, which
becomes CR-66 N / E. Deer Park Rd, and then becomes E. Jericho Tpke / NY-25. Take to Elwood Rd, and make a left. Take to H.S.
KENNEDY H.S.- Southern State Pkwy. to Wantagh Pkwy South, take Merrick Road Exit heading West. Head West on
Merrick Road for about 1/2 mile, and make a Left on Bellmore Avenue (at Dunkin Donuts). Take Bellmore Avenue south to Kennedy
High School, which will be on the right side. The field is on the northeast corner of the high school property.
MITCHELL FIELD COMPLEX (Uniondale, LI - by Hofstra and Nassau Coliseum) - Take LIE south or SS Pkwy north to Meadowbrook
Pkwy. Take Meadowbrook Pkwy (South from LIE / North from Southern State) to Exit M-4 (Nassau Coliseum). Bear right onto C.
Lindbergh Blvd to first traffic light. Park is ahead on left.
OR.....
Take Meadowbrook Pkwy North to Hempstead
Tpke (Rte 24) Exit heading WEST. Pass Nassau Coliseum, and make RIGHT onto Earl Ovington Blvd (McDonald's on left corner),
before Hofstra. Proceed to Charles Lindbergh Blvd, and make a LEFT on Charles Lindbergh. Continue to entrance on your left.
MORRIS AVENUE-
LIE to Exit 62N (Nicholls Rd). Go North on Nichols Rd, but stay on LIE West exit ramp and
turn back onto Westbound LIE Service Rd. At second block, Morris Ave, (Gulf Station) make a right turn. Field is 1/2 mile
down on right side.
MOUNT SINAI JV - L.I.E.
TO EXIT 63N (North OCEAN AVE.). Take this North approx. 8 miles. Turn LEFT onto 347 (West), take this approx. 1/2 mile to
the entrance of the Mount Sinai School District (there is a light at this intersection). Make a right into the complex. Follo
w the road to the Middle School, 2nd Building, Baseball field is next to it.
NEWFIELD H.S. - SELDEN
L.I. Expressway to exit 62N (Nicolls Rd.). Take Nicolls Rd. North about 3 miles to Rt.25
(Middle Country Rd.) and head East toward Riverhead. Go about ¨ö mile to Selden Blvd. and make a left. Take Selden
Blvd to the end and make a right. Field is right the rear. NORTHEAST PARK
- Freeport - Take Southern State Pkwy to Meadowbrook Pkwy South. Take to Exit M7 West, toward Roosevelt. Turn
slight RIGHT onto Babylon Tpke. Turn LEFT onto Lakeview Ave/Bishop Frank O. White Ave. Turn RIGHT onto Parsons
Ave - field 1/4 mile down - across street from and on south side of LIRR tracks. NORTH WOODMERE PARK - From East: Southern State Pkwy. to Peninsula Blvd (Exit 19 S). Take
Peninsula Blvd. 7-10 miles, cross over Merrick Rd and Sunrise Hwy, head into 5 Towns, all the way up to Branch Blvd. Turn
Right at school and continue up to park entrance on left.
From West: Cross Island Pkwy South to Southern State
Pkwy East. Get off Exit 14 S (Central Ave.) Valley Stream, and continue south on Central Ave, which becomes Mill Rd. Take
up to Peninsula Blvd and make a Right onto Branch Blvd. Continue up to park entrance on left.
NORTHPORT H.S. -
From the L.I.E. (Rt.495): Exit 51 North (Rt. 231) Deer Park Ave (approximately 3 miles) to a fork in the road at the Dix Hill
Fire Department stay right continue to Jericho Tpke (Rt. 25) get over to the left on Jericho Tpke. You will see a Blockbuster
Video Store on the corner of Elwood Rd. TURN LEFT travel north approximately 3 miles (you will pass John Glenn High School)
keep going until you cross L.I. Railroad tracks. Northport High School is on the left immediately after the L.I. Railroad
crossing. Go to the light make a left onto Laurel Hill Road.
From the Sunken Meadow Parkway: Go North to the Pulaski
Rd West Exit stay on Pulaski Rd (2 miles) until you come to Elwood Rd. (Mobil gas station & Pulaski Rd School on corner)
turn right on Elwood Rd. continue over the railroad tracks Northport High School is immediately on your left. PAL COMPLEX - LIE to Exit 62S (Nicolls Rd) Take Nicolls Rd. to Furrows Road and head East on Furrows about 200
yards to the PAL entrance on your right. The field is all the way to the end of complex. SALTZMAN EAST
MEMORIAL SCHOOL - Farmingdale - Take Southern State Pkwy to Exit 32 North (Rte 110 North). Once you come off the exit,
take to 1st Traffic Light/Intersection, which is Main Street, and make a LEFT onto Main Street (will see Ace Hardware on left
and Boston Market on right). Head to next traffic light on Main Street, which is Mill Road. Make a RIGHT onto
Mill Rd and take to 1st stop sign, which is Mill Lane. Make a right, and school is right there on left side. Turn
left and follow to field in back of school. SOUTH HAVEN AVE PARK -
From LIE: Take
east to Rte. 112 exit. Make a right on Rte 112, heading SOUTH, 1 mile to South Haven Ave. Make a left onto South Haven Ave
and take up to field on the right hand side. The field is right there near the fire house.
From Sunrise Hwy: Take
east to Rte 112 exit. Head NORTH on Rte 112, to South Haven Ave, make a right, and take about 2 miles to the field on the
right hand side. (or follow above directions) SUNY FARMINGDALE Stadium
- Take Southern State or LIE to Rte 110 Exits (head South from LIE and North from Southern State). Follow 110 to SUNY
Farmingdale Campus, turn into campus, and head to fields on southern part of campus. Stadium is next to other athletic
fields. JACK KAISER STADIUM - ST. JOHN’S UNIVERSITY-
From East: Take Northern State Pkwy West. It turns into the Grand Central Pkwy. Continue heading west past Queens/Nassau border
to Exit 19 (188th Street). At light on end of exit ramp, make Left onto 188th St., then a quick Right onto the Grand Central
Service Road. Follow it west past first light. Before second light, bear right onto Utopia Pkwy. Make left into second gate,
by baseball stadium.
ST. DOMINIC’S H.S.- LIE to exit 41 North. You will be on Rt. 106-107. Drive a short
while…there will be a split in the road..bear right (106) go about 3 miles (you will pass across Northern Blvd.) aout
another 2 miles to Berry Hill Rd. (Hess Gas Station on your left) turn right on Berry Hill Rd. Go a few blocks to Anstice
St. school is about another block on right hand side.
ST. ANTHONY'S HS-Northern State Pkwy to exit 41, Wolf Hill
Rd (this exit is about l mile past rt. 110) Exit Wolf Hill Rd. & turn left (northbound) ontoWolf Hill Rd. Proceed to major
intersection. St. Anthony will be on the right side of this intersection.
ST. JOHN THE BAPTIST-LIE- exit Sagtikos
Pkwy south, remain on Sagtikos and eventually the road will split. Stay in right lane which bears into Southern State Pkwy
going west-continue to exit 40 (Robert Moses Causeway) passing Sunrise Highway exits. Move into right lane & make a left
turn. School will be on your left side, if you pass Good Samaritan Hospital you went too far.
SUFFOLK COMMUNITY
COLLEGE - SELDEN
LIE to exit 62 (Nichols Rd.) North. The school is on the right (before Rt. 25)
SUNY AT OLD
WESTBURY-LIE exit 40. , keep left follow signs to Old Westbury, cross under LIE to service road.
SYOSSET PARK -
Take Rte 135 North to last exit (Exit 13 - Jericho Tpke) heading EAST. Once merge onto Jericho Tpke E, go to 2nd light and
make Right turn into Syosset Park. Bear right on park road and follow to back of park. Field in back behind pool areas.
TANNER PARK - From WEST: Take Merrick Road East into Copaigue. Follow to Bayview Rd, make Right and take to end.
WANTAGH PARK - Take Southern State Pkwy to Exit 27S (Wantagh Pkwy), heading south. Take Wantagh Pkwy South to Sunrise
Hwy (Rte 27) Exit, heading East. Once come off exit onto Sunrise, stay in right lane and go to first main intersection (Wantagh
Ave). At the light, make a RIGHT onto Wantagh Avenue, head south to Merrick Road. Make a RIGHT onto Merrick Road, and go under
overpass, and make first LEFT at next light. Bear left at fork and head into park. Fields are up on left hand side.
WEST MIDDLE SCHOOL (Bayshore) - Southern State Pkwy to Exit 41 North (Bayshore Rd). Take up to Udall Rd, make a RIGHT,
and follow up to school on left side - field is in back. WILLIAM
FLOYD H.S. - From Sunrise Hwy, get off at William Floyd Pkway exit heading south, cross over RR tracks, and go exactly
3 lights past the RR Tracks to Roberts Road. Make left. Go to the end (Floyd Road), make a right. Go to STOP sign and make
left onto Landau Place. Go to the second traffic light (Mastic Road) , ma ke a right. Go half-mile to Grace Lutheran Church
(Lincoln Ave), make right. Go into sports complex. At STOP sign, make left and follow road to parking lot.
